Ocean Fish Report

Rock fishing opened March 1st and the best rockfishing of the year is happening at Santa Rosa Island. We fish Santa Rosa Island in shallow water with plastics and we catch lots of BIG reds along with all the other species of rock fish and calicos.

.We had an incounter with a huge Mako Shark at Anacapa Island. It attacked a 400lb Black sea bass that we had on the line and bite it's tail off. Then after we released the sea bass the shark circled it for 15 minutes the took it under never to be seen by us again. It was awesome!

You can get the occasional yellowtail and white sea bass at the Channel Islands and we are getting our share. In May we target the yellows and the white seabass. The halibut fishing starts to come on strong about this time also.

.Freshwater Fish Report

Fishing on the Owens near Bishop can be very productive this time of year. We have Able Travel Crafts and Watermasters for floating the Owens or almost any other rivers. Lake Crowley is fishing fantastic now with Midge patterns. I caught Brown trout up to six pounds last weekend. Here are a couple of shots of nice rainbows caught last weekend.
